Billy Gerhard

Billy Gerhard is the Chief Technology Officer at Three Ships. In this role, he is responsible for the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning across the Three Ships portfolio, helping each business sharpen its digital edge and accelerate performance through smarter tools and data-driven decision-making.

Before joining Three Ships, Billy was a Partner at the Boston Consulting Group. At BCG, he led cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and consultants to build and deploy AI/ML tools that supported billion-dollar decisions across government and private sector organizations. His work ranged from optimizing maintenance operations for large fleets to reshaping budget allocation strategy for portfolios exceeding $200 billion in annual spend. He also played a leadership role in recruiting PhD, MD, and JD talent into BCG’s advanced degree program.

Billy earned his PhD from Duke University, where his research applied AI/ML to identify how maritime shipping spreads antibiotic resistance and pathogens around the globe. He lives in Apex, NC with his wife and daughter.
